Navy is a Neutral + Coupon Code

As far as I'm concerned, navy is a neutral. I love wearing navy more than any other color, mainly because it looks great in any season and isn't quite as serious as black. If you were to open my closet, you would mostly see navy in the form of solids, stripes, and gingham. Today's outfit post is made up a entirely new pieces, so you can shop this entire outfit without finding similar items. First, I want to talk about this sweater. I've shared this pullover sweater a handful of times before and after owning it for only a few weeks, I can already tell it's going to be put to good use all throughout spring and summer. The fit is perfect, J. Crew did a fabulous job creating a warm, lightweight,

How I Stay Organized on a Busy Schedule

I've talked about it multiple times this semester, but I'm currently working on a really busy schedule. It's totally my choice, and a love everything I'm a part of, but oftentimes I wonder why how I'm not drowning. Recently many of y'all have been messaging me about my agenda, my organization tactics, and just how I stay on track in general. If there's one thing I'm really good at, it's staying organized. I've always been one to write lists, keep an agenda, and mark on my calendar. I'm taking 16 credit hours this semester, have a part time job, am in a sorority, a member of the club tennis team, and am a tour guide. Yes, thats a lot of things to have a hand in at school, but it's so manageab

Weekly Skinny: March 26th

What a crazy week it's been! I have had an extremely relaxed semester so far. Although the course load has been tough and rigorous, I haven't felt like I was drowning -- until now. When you major in speech and paper based classes you mainly have readings and small assignments throughout the semester and one large project due that counts towards your final grade. My history and public relations classes are the opposite, but my writing and intercultural communications classes are loaded with projects. I knew what I was signing up for, but having everything due at once really has really hit me hard. I spent all weekend trying to get organized for April, knowing that it's going to be a strenuous

Spring Playlist

I have been loving Spotify recently! I don't go anywhere on campus without my Beats or without a pair of ear buds. I'm always listening to music, creating new playlists and finding any excuse to listen to music. Recently, I have been on the hunt for a great podcast or two to listen to as well. Spotify offers podcasts now, which I didn't discover until just recently, and I am loving exploring the podcast page! I've shared it before, but the Potterless Podcast is a current fave of mine, so if you're into Harry Potter and enjoyed reading the books, this podcast is hilarious, and fills you with the joy of reading them for the first time. As always, the Unqualified podcast with Anna Faris and Dav

Prepping for J.Crew National Stripes Day

It's officially spring, but I'm currently writing this blog post while a blizzard is happening outside my window. How ironic. Before this big storm took over JMU, I travelled down to Staunton, Virginia to spend a warm Sunday afternoon exploring. Virginia managed to get lucky and experience one day of warm sunshine before the snow hit. It was one of those afternoons where there wasn't a cloud in the sky, the sun was beating down and nothing felt better. The downtown area of Staunton, Virginia is so beautiful and quaint. It's full of inns, mom and pop shops, restaurants, and it sits right up against Mary Baldwin College. My friend and photographer, Erin, and I wandered around and soaked up the

Sophomore Year Apartment Bedroom Tour

I'm finally sharing my sophomore year apartment bedroom with y'all! I put off posting this for so long because I didn't think it lived up to my dorm from freshman year. I loved that dorm, my roommate, and my hall mates. I put a lot of time in my decor last year and by living in such a small space, I learned how to be organized, cleanly, and all round a more put together person. I carried that organization into my sophomore year, utilizing a lot of it in my bedroom. I skipped dorm living and rented an apartment this year. I live with three other girls. We all have our own room and bathroom, and the apartment also comes with a full kitchen, pantry, living room, washer/dryer, and deck. It's pre

March 30 Under $30

I am so enjoying Spring apparel right now, if only the weather in Virginia would catch up! It's going to snow four days out of the next ten, which is more snow than we have seen throughout all of Winter here at JMU. I'm sick of thick sweaters and layering a sweatshirt, with a vest, with a parka just to keep warm. To combat this drab weather I'm experience, I'm back again with another 30 Under $30 post. I've been working on this post all week long and am really thrilled to finally be able to share it with y'all! I scoured some of my favorite stores for inexpensive clothes about found thirty staple/statement pieces for Spring. Target really let me down this Winter in terms of clothing, but I v

College Day in My Life + YouTube Video

One of the incredible things about blogging is that I can share my day to day life with so many people. I love that so many girls are headed off to college in the fall and are looking to me to answer their questions about it. If you are one of these gals, always feel free to send me an email! I'll try to answer your questions as best as I can! The truth is, college is a blast but it's also a whole lot of work -- something to be expected, of course. This semester, I am particularly busy with classes, semester projects, work, and various organizations. I love being busy from sun up to sun down, I think there's something to be said about filling a day with work and "earning" your night's sleep

Instagram Story Templates

Some of the most read posts on Daily Dose of Prep are my personal, life update posts where I go a little more "off the cuff" compared to other days. I try to be pretty transparent with you guys, but sometimes I just want to talk about fashion and lifestyle, and not share what's going on behind the scenes of DDP. I oftentimes forget that I'm a virtual friend, but in truth a stranger to many readers -- which is a high and heavy barrier to break in the blogging world. My favorites so far are from Prep Avenue. I have been seeing these fun and extremely creative Instagram templates all over Stories for two weeks now and I love them. They are so fun to fill out and read, but also extremely fun to

Weekly Skinny: March 13th

Okay, can we just take a minute to talk about how we're at the halfway mark of March. What? Let me repeat, what the actual heck. Where did March go? Before we know, it'll be Easter, then finals week, and then summer vacation. This semester has flown by, which is kind of bitter sweet. As great as it feels to have another year of college under my belt, I have loved this year -- especially Spring Semester. Yesterday, classes resumed on the snowiest day JMU has seen all year. I'm still a little bitter about the fact that JMU didn't cancel class. Yesterday was also the Monday to end all Mondays. It started off with the weather. Let's just leave it when I say, busses don't have four wheel drive. I

Step Into My Week: Spring Break

...And just like that, Spring Break is over. Pretty much everyone I know either flew abroad to some enchanting European country or went to Punta Cana, but I spent the week relaxing at home. Although many readers might think that's an underwhelming week, it was exactly what I needed. I love being busy at school, I'm typically out of my apartment from 7:30am-10:00pm during the week, so catching my breath these past seven days was incredible. Although yes, I spent a rather relaxing weekend at home, it doesn't mean that I didn't make the most of my time back on the farm. The weekend started with ordering in pizza. At school, I don't order pizza, I typically get frozen pizza to save a little mone

College Smarter, Not Harder

We're halfway through the semester which is crazy to me! There are only seven weeks until I'm out for summer vacation, but we're not there yet. For me, long nights of studying are just the worst and when it comes time to buckle down and invest in my schoolwork, I make a running list in my head of the things I could be doing rather than studying. Does anyone else feel the extreme urge to clean their room, bathroom, backpack, or closet when it comes time to study? I can't be the only one! In order to overcome my reoccurring case of procrastination, I started to think of ways that would make me feel productive while studying. Quizzes do that, so I knew I needed to find something that would quiz

Go-To Casual Outfit

Temperatures are rising, slowly but surely. It's nice to see less cloudy days and more sunshine as we approach Spring. I am really getting into wearing navy, denim, white, and any neutral colors that I can swap out with one another. As much as I love bright pinks, yellows, and greens, sometimes it's nice to wear a basic outfit and let the classic pieces do all the talking. Nobody said you had to dress loud to make a statement. There is something so elegant to me about a classic white button down shirt. I love how versatile they are and how you can find one to fit any price point. I know H&M sells a couple of great ones for around $20 and Nordstrom sells them reaching up to $300. The great th

Meghan Markle's Style Made Affordable

Meghan Markle's style is quickly coming through to the forefront of our Instagram feeds. Each day, as she becomes closer and closer to entering the Royal family, we see more and more pictures of her trendy yet classy style. She has taken her American roots and implimented them on polished British Prep style. Although we all want to be a royal, we can all assume none of us will every get there. However, you don't have to spend money like a royal to dress like one. I doubt any of us will be meeting and greeting the people of Birmingham anytime soon, so the need for calf length wool trench coats and tea length dresses aren't needed in our closets. Despite our lack of Royal agenda, I think Megha

15 Little White Dresses for Spring

Ladies, can you believe it?! It's just about that time to pull your favorite little white dresses (LWD) out from the back of your closets and to the front. Although we've barely made a dent in March, and are nowhere close to Memorial Day, in modern fashion, wearing white before the "proper time" is almost irrelevant. I'm a big traditionalist, but the restrictions for wearing white in the fashion world are dead and gone. I believe every girl needs a LWD in her closet, just as much as they need a LBD and a LND (little navy dress). I think white is a color that looks great on every single skin tone and with every hair color. This dress is the go to dress in every woman's closet that she can rel

A Springy Shift

Spring, Spring, Spring. That's pretty much all that's been on my mind this month. I cannot believe it's already the 7th of March. I've been doing plenty of online *window* shopping for fun pastels and fun florals. I cannot stress how sick I am of sweaters, parkas, and Bean Boots. I just want to feel the sun on my face and grass between my toes. Although it's still a little too chilly for sleeveless and sandals, I still think we can easily integrate some of our favorite Spring pieces into our wardrobe without being uncomfortable or feeling like we've jumped the seasonal gun. I think a great way to add an extra layer of warmth and make a shift dress more casual and wearable is to layer it with

Weekly Skinny: March 2nd

Seriously, I cannot get over my excitement for March. The first two months of the year are always so slow for me, I feel like I'm going nowhere. Now, with the sun shining a little more and flowers starting to bloom, I see the end of sophomore year in sight. I can't believe I have less than two months of school left until I'm halfway finished with college. It's so weird saying that 😳. This week has been surprisingly not too busy, despite the fact that it's midterms. I only had one test this week, which was a relief since last week was too insane to handle. Midterms behind me and sunshine ahead of me, I am so excited for Spring Break. I haven't talked too much about it, but I'm so excited to

Spring Wardrobe Basics

March is here, which means Spring is only a short way away! Can you believe we made it through the never-ending month of January and the fast-flying February? Here in the South, trees are starting to bloom and the air smells refreshed. I've even been able to fall asleep with my window open a few nights! Now that Spring Break is here (well, one day away), and February is behind us, it's time to swap our Winter wardrobe for our Spring ones. Although yes, I'm still keeping a few of my sweaters and my lightweight parka towards the front of my closet, I'm lining them up right next to my crisp white blouses, my blush crossbody, and my early spring sundresses. I didn't shop for clothing at all duri
