The Ultimate Guide to Prep for Less

So many of you request a prep for less post, and honestly it's a lot of sitting and waiting and watching for deals and for stores to go online. Despite all the waiting and watching for sales, there are a few tips to know when it comes to shopping prep for less, despite if a store is on sale and today I want to share those with you. This post is pretty lengthy, so I'm just jumping on into it, but if you have a prep for less tip, leave it for other readers in the comments below! Simple doesn't mean boring -- The first think you need to know is the classic style isn't boring, it's simple and tailored. It's a streamlined look that will literally never go out of style. Decades and decades later w

French Stripes in the Summertime

Maintaining a classic outfit doesn't have to be determined by how much money you spend or the labels on your clothes. Something as timeless as a great quality striped shirt can be found almost anywhere and styled a thousand different ways. Don't overcomplicate such a simple item though. When paired with a tailored pair of shorts, your favorite striped tee can become a standout item in your summer wardrobe. I'll preach about my collection of striped shirts until I can't wear them anymore. They truly are the best tops I have in my closet -- which is why I have about a dozen of them. This French blue and white striped three-quarter length tee is one of my favorites for the summertime. Right now

My Favorite from the Nordstrom Sale

I never really gave the Nordstrom sale any attention until a few years ago. I always knew it was a great sale, but being Nordstrom I knew the prices were on the higher side. Oh my goodness, was I so wrong -- y'all this sale is incredible. Nordstrom puts big and small brand names on incredible sale making the expensive items affordable and inexpensive items a total steal. Almost everything is over 40% off and there are hundreds of items on sale. If you need a pair of shoes, a new purse, clothes for your upcoming vacation, or a coat for the winter you can buy it during this sale. I originally went onto Nordstrom's site this weekend looking for a few classic pieces for my summertime closet and

How to Create the Perfect Instagram Stories

I'm a big fan of Instagram stories and it seems like you all like these graphics as well. I must say, all of the other bloggers around me have also stepped their game up, which inspired me to do some research on how I can create the best Instagram stories. The thing about Instagram is that they reward those who use all of their features by putting them higher up on the explore page. One of these coveted features is InstaStories and all of the bells and whistles that comes along with it. These Stories are the quick snapshot of your entire account, so even though they last 15 seconds on your screen, they should be just as polished as the photos on your profile. I love using different designs a

The Alivia in Seersucker

Finally, Lilly Pulitzer is bringing back seersucker. It's been years since the classic brand has worked with the delicate pastel fabric and I know I'm not the only one that's missed it throughout these year. Just a few weeks back, Lilly Pulitzer released a handful of items in a blue seersucker including the Alivia Dress. This dress is a great balance between a floral white bodice against a classic full seersucker skirt. This dress even has roomy pockets for your phone, ID, or favorite gloss. This dress is the perfect preppy summer sundress for any occasion. I can see myself wearing this dress to brunch, dinners, special events at the beach, chapter meetings, and church. I just couldn't resis

What I Bought This May

I definitely went on a little spending spree this month, and now in the words of Rebecca Bloomwood from Confessions of a Shopaholic "my wallet is closed, I do not want to shop". But seriously, I can't shop anymore🙈. Everything was either on sale or employee discount though, so that counts for something, right? I knew throughout May, I would be purchasing a few essential items like a new navy dress, a pair of black shorts, and a brown wedge. I also needed a few new swimsuits. Maybe not three new ones, but the Lilly Pulitzer summer swim collection was so cute, I just had to grab a few new suits! Bow Shorts -- I initially wanted to just buy the black bow shorts from J. Crew Factory, but the pi

The Secret to How I Create My Outfits

One of my favorite things to do is play around with the clothes in my closet and try to get as many outfits as possible out of only a handful of items. I try to base my entire wardrobe off this principle. Many readers and followers of the blog ask how I continually come up with cute outfits and style everything without making the same outfit twice. It might seem like I have a gigantic wardrobe at my fingertips, but the truth is that I expand my closet by purchasing extremely versatile items. Simple staple items, made of great materials with classic silhouettes ensure that the items I invest in will last and will never go out of style. When it comes to making sure that every item can be worn

If you have anymore questions about college, student life, or just want to chat make sure to email me! I love chatting it up with you! What can you do to not be nervous to go to college? Be kind to everyone and if you are still nervous after that, listen more than you speak.

May 30 Under $30

One of my special talents, that I seriously think I should write down on my "other skills" section of my resume is that I can find a good sale almost anywhere. I think that you don't have to spend a million bucks to look like a million bucks. I hope these posts can help soothe all of your questions about dressing "prep for less" for the summertime. With the warmer weather approaching, I try to stay way from jeans in general. They're hot and uncomfortable. I shared a variety of other options like shorts, dresses, skirts, and rompers. Right now H&M has incredible shorts to offer that really stand out from other stores. Similarly, I think Target has great shoes for summer. The Marc Fisher look-

Gift Guide for the Grad

Say goodbye to formal season and prom season, it's time for grad season!! Whether you're graduating and moving onto bigger and better things or your it's your sister, cousin, niece, daughter or bestie is graduating -- it's an extremely exciting time! May is the time to say many goodbyes either to high school or college friends and say hello to new beginnings and take that big step either into college or the big wide world. With such a thrilling time ahead and tons of hard work in the rear view mirror, you should treat the grad to a little gift. The key to graduation gifts is to give the grad something that they'll not only enjoy but something that they'll put to good use in the near future.

Sophomore Recap in Snapshots

I'm a junior in college. Still sounds so weird to say. I'm halfway finished with my last educational experience and I'm not quite sure how I'm feeling about it. I'm part relieved because it means I'm halfway done with 20 page papers, tedious group assignments, and taking the bus. But I'm also really sad because it means I only have two years left to make mistakes until I hit the real world, or rather the real world hits me. I know many of my readers are heading off to college this fall, so my first piece of advice to you is to take in every single moment. Don't take a class, a person, a professor, or anyone for granted and thank your parents every single day for the experience to go to colle

Gifts for Mom

With the start of May comes Mother's Day, the perfect time to show mom just how much you appreciate her. With Mother's Day a week away, it's time to get the ball rolling on deciding what gift to buy her. I think about it way more now than I did as a kid, but seriously our moms are incredible. My mom had to keep up with four kid's schedules and my dad's traveling schedule for work which is seriously incredible. I can barely keep up with my work and blogging schedules, so the fact that she literally kept five people and herself organized is impressive. Mom's do literally everything for us and it's about time we pay them back. Today, I linked 24 great items for mom. I went off personal experien

Monthly Must Haves: May

Can you believe it's already May?! I feel like I was writing Christmas and holiday posts just a few days ago, but in reality it was almost six months ago. WOW. I recently returned home for summer vacation and took a few days off to settle in and truthfully relax. I feel like I've been going and going for the past four months and taking a few days off to organize my life, catch up on personal things, and sit by the lake and read my book is exactly what I needed. It's kind of weird being back home. Don't get me wrong, I love it - seriously, being back at home is exactly where I want to be. But I loved my school schedule and routine and not seeing my friends every day took a few days to get us
