Shenandoah Lake in November
In a pinch to take photos the other day, I started researching fall trails in the Shenandoah Valley that I could quickly visit to snap a few fall photos. As I was searched I ended up finding a result for Shenandoah Lake, which actually wasn't a trail in the Shenandoah Valley. Instead, it's a 35-acre plot of state-owned land located in the middle of a neighborhood only 10 minutes from me. This beyond beautiful lake just down the street complete with canoe racks, fishing docks,

Twist on a Classic Look
One of my favorite combinations for fall is styling sweaters with shorts -- it's a twist on a great classic combination. Especially if you're ready for fall but it's still a little warm where you live, shorts and a sweater is a youthful twist on a New England style that we all love. This bow sweater is from J. Crew and is one of my favorites come September. The cream and black is extremely chic and the bow adds and air of elegance and femininity to any outfit. Lucky for us, J

Fall Wardrobe Starter Pack
I ran a poll on Instagram yesterday asking if I would make you mad if I started posting about Fall on the blog or if you were ready for changing leaves and cashmere sweaters. Over 75% of Instagram followers said they were ready for Fall, so here we are! If you were in the minority and were still loving summer, sorry this post might not be for you. Bookmark it though for when you're feeling Fallish --it'll come in handy then. These past few months I have really been enhancing

Back Home on the Farm
It feels so good to be back home again. I only traveled home for the weekend once from August until now so this break was much deserved and well needed. As I have mentioned before, this holiday season is the first at Markley Farms so everything during this break feels so new. We are beginning to put up Christmas decorations and plan parties. We even started the Thanksgiving meal prep this morning. Thanksgiving on the farm is such a beautiful time of year. The trees lining the

Switzer Lake Wanderlust
I love to go on adventures. Whether it be spontaneous weekend road trips to Chicago, traveling to Texas by RV, or exploring the Shenandoah, spending time with friends, listening to music, and discovering new places is something I love to do. Yesterday, my friend Erin, a fellow Alpha Delta Pi and stellar photographer, had a photoshoot planned. We both brainstormed a few ideas of where to shoot and she suggested a lake she had heard of through Instagram. She said it was about 2

Perfect Day Picking Apples
Two weekends ago was the Apple Festival at Showalter Orchards in Timberville, Virginia so, I took the scenic drive a few miles north for a fun day in the apple groves picking the most delicious fruit. I've raved about Showalter so many times before because of the family atmosphere and incredibly beautiful views of the mountains. I love spending few hours at the orchard but I also enjoy seizing the opportunity to take a few pictures as well. Truly, apple picking and having ph

Neutral Layers for Fall
Layering throughout the cold months is the best way to stay warm while keeping your outfit cute. I love layering my favorite sweaters with button downs, turtlenecks, flannels, vests, and long sleeve tees. I particularly love this black and white striped turtleneck from Target. It was only $9 and looks great styled with so many sweaters and even a few dresses. They come in so many different colors and can match multiple items in your closet. For a little extra warmth, I threw
